NEM is an environmentally friendly energy concept introduced by the government in 2016 to encourage solar energy consumption among consumers in Malaysia. The concept of NEM is that the energy produced from the solar PV installation will be consumed first, and any excess will be transported to TNB. Till now, NEM 3.0 is presented to provide the opportunity for more users to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on the roofs for electricity bills reduction. NEM 3.0 is effective from 2021 to 2023 and the total quota allocation is up to 800MW. |
